Previous Works
Drax Power Station
ID Corcoran worked for Doosan on the SNCR project at Drax Power Station in Yorkshire from August 2015 to February 2017. The works started with the site strip and demolition of redundant slab foundations in preparation for the construction of the new concrete bases and services to supply the new buildings. IDC managed the piling works and were in attendance to the piling team for the duration of their works. Piles were capped and new concrete blinding placed to allow a clean surface for reinforcement placement and formwork construction. Over 300 tonnes of reinforcement was tied over the project and more than 3500m³ of concrete placed. The largest pour was 450m³ for a single base, where two pumps were pouring the concrete throughout the day. IDC team managed the control and placement in a safe and professional manner to achieve the concrete finish. A lot of the concrete was power float finished where a second team would work through the night to achieve the smooth glass like finish. All of the service ducts and channels were installed with a service trench being constructed bespoke for the supplies. Roads were installed at the end of the project with reinforced concrete slabs and tarmacadam to other areas, then Armco barriers and trief kerbs installed where required.
Bradwell Power Station
ID Corcoran were based at Bradwell Power Station in Essex from 2007 to 23rd August 2019 when the site was closed, having officially transitioned into care and maintenance with ID Corcoran still assisting with this stage. During our time based on site we maintained a permanent presence and carried out various projects simultaneously through Magnox and other contractors on site, including working in a PC role. The initial works that IDC were invited to carry out was on a small partition wall within the EHS&Q building. Following this IDC were successful in tendering for larger projects in winning their own minor civils framework direct with Magnox carrying out many projects, large and small, inside and outside the RCA, C0 and C2 conditions giving Magnox a reactive civils team that could deliver all their requirements and aid them in emergency works. IDC worked on projects such as the FED and ADAP, LLWMF, tower crane bases, Circulator Hall floor, drilling works and anchor supports, site enabling works, road construction, surface water drainage, concrete repairs (including those in the void cells) and many more. Between August 2017 and November 2018 ID Corcoran undertook two large projects to complete the weather envelope of both reactors and overcladding the Ponds building whilst still completing other minor projects and carrying out reactive works. Through our works at Bradwell ID Corcoran developed a reputation for high standards and ability to achieve aswell as forging strong relationships with many clients. They also drove the company’s growth from just 7 employees to 34 and led to ID Corcoran winning Best Established Business of 2018 and Business of the Year 2018 in the Maldon District Council Business Awards.
Lakeside Flats Care Accommodation
I D Corcoran undertook the drainage, damp proofing, refurbishment, new fit out and landscaping works to Lakeside care accommodation for Interserve FM. These premises are for persons to lead an independent life within the safe confines of care facilities. The residents had to be moved out from the property due to flooding caused by the drains and lack of flood barriers, it was therefore imperative that these works were undertaken to programme and took into account the needs and requirements of the residents. After the initial strip out of the property new foul pipe runs were placed and connected into existing manholes. Breakout of the interior ground floor screed and placement of cementitious damp proofing material was carried out. To the external of the property resin injection works were undertaken to address the damp from the exterior. Ground reduction and French drains were installed to the perimeter to the building to assist with the surface water dissipation. New insulation was placed and screed was poured to the entire ground floor with the heating pipes being installed within pipe trays cast into the screed to protect the integrity of the new damp proof system. New DOC M shower rooms were installed to all flats with Whiterock applied to the walls and Polysafe flooring laid. Electrical systems were upgraded, walls plastered, new woodwork fitted and painting was carried out throughout the property. New kitchens and floor coverings were installed and laid as selected from options by the residents. Landscaping and patio areas were created to the perimeter of the property utilise the space available.
